The Boston 400 is the 400th one-of-a-kind piece in Vortic's "Boston" line of the American Artisan Series. This watch contains the original movement (timepiece), dial (face), and hands from a vintage (1880’s – 1950’s) pocket watch. The American Artisan Series is a line of fully American Made wristwatches powered by restored, U.S. made pocket watch movements.
What makes the Boston 400 Unique: We are happy to present this exquisite watch originally produced by the Waltham Watch Company in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1924. A wonderfully pronounced crest is the centerpiece of this unique dial. We think the gothic style numerals stand out nicely from the gold hue of the face, and is paired well with our DLC titanium case, and topped off with a gold-plated crown. Our merlot strap ties in to match these gorgeous, burgundy, full moon hands and complete this exceptional watch. The movement that gives this watch life is powered by 17 friction-set jewels, all throughout this classic Waltham bridge plate design. Peeking through beneath are gold-plated gears as well as a brass balance wheel to match. The delicate machining throughout catches the eye from all different angles and continues to surprise us as we explore everything inside this movement. This watch hails all the way from 1924, the same year that the very first foreign language course was broadcasted publicly in the United States, over the radio.
